The Cut calls this photo of Jean Paul Gaultier and Chris Brown after Gaultier’s boxing themed FW10 show “the birth of awkward.” I’m calling it incredibly, unbelievably, wildly misguided, on the part of both Brown and Gaultier. Does Chris Brown actually have any PR people? All signs point to no. If he does, they need to be fired, stat.

Look, I love Topman as much as the next guy. But, like H&M, Zara and Uniqlo before them, sometimes they have amazing clothing, and sometimes their shit is out of control. Hypbeast has a preview today (via The Fashionisto) of the Topman Lens 2010 Spring collection. Lens is the Topman line of collaborations with up and coming designers, who now have the opportunity to give the average consumer a taste of their design aesthetic, to varying degrees of wearability. Wearability, one might think, would seem to be an important factor in a collaboration with a retailer like Topman. But, if one thinks that, then one is wrong.
Carolyn Massey, Dexter Wong, Kaspar Harup-Hansen, Mjölk, Christopher Shannon and Finnish designer Dusty have each created some pieces that come together to form a collection of wildly different perspectives. Wearing some will make people think you’re cool, put-together and fashion-forward. Others will make people think you have Asperger’s. But, how will you know the difference between the two? Fear not: I’ve gone and ahead and separated the previewed pieces into two simple categories: “Yes” and “Boooo.” See where formal shorts on adults fall, after the jump.

Full disclosure: I’ve never actually seen any of Marion Cotillard’s movies, English language or otherwise. But, I have seen the explosion of adorable that was her Academy Award acceptance speech for “La Vie en Rose,” in which she thanked life and love as if they were her agent and manager, and it was enough to convince me that I pretty much love her. And if your heart doesn’t melt after the portion of her 2007 interview with Lynn Hirshberg where she discusses fireworks, you might want to consult a physician to make sure you still have one beating inside your chest, you cold bastard.
In the years since, her grasp of the English language has improved significantly, but here’s to hoping she doesn’t get any Muzzy tapes for Christmas, because her broken speech is really quite endearing.

(capsule) New York is officially a wrap for the season, but if you weren’t one of the lucky thousands to make it to the show this year, you can thank filmmaker and avid style blogger Jake Davis for bringing a taste of the show to the un-Quoddy’d masses. For two days at (capsule) at the Angel Orensanz Foundation on the Lower East Side, Jake filmed attendees whose personal style caught his eye exclusively for T Magazine. Those who sat for screen tests include Jockum Hallin of Our Legacy (above), Supreme mastermind Brendon Babenzien, and the very cute Tanya Romero. Watch them all at T.

I’ve never really been a big fan of Marc Jacobs, for a few different reasons — the persona overshadowing the clothing, the over-the-top celebrity hangers-on, the SpongeBob tattoo — but, I have to admit, he got me with these mixtape USB hubs. When I first saw these on The Malcolm, I was taken back to making weird mixtapes of Ini Kamoze, the Proclaimers, even Salt-n-Pepa and some other embarrassing things that I won’t name here. I kept making actual mixtapes even after my dad bought an external CD burner that took something like half an hour to burn one disc.
And these suckers are only $15, so it won’t cost you (or me) a lot to relive childhood memories whilst plugging in your iPod, synching your Blackberry and uploading photos all at once, thanks to the three ports.
So, fine, Marc, you win this round. And you can go ahead and try me with those ukulele cases, but it’s not going to work!

Terry Richardson has one of the most instantly recognizable and oft-imitated styles in contemporary fashion photography, marked by harsh lighting, suggestive poses and a general air of dirty old man-ness. And now he has a Tumblr!
As The Cut pointed out, Terry’s Diary is packed with pics of Richardson and his famous friends. After all, he is one of the few photographers who can count President Obama, Megan Fox, the entire cast of Jackass and young Macaulay Culkin among his subjects. But, it’s the everyday sort of shots that make the blog particularly interesting, with everything from Richardson’s trademark flannels to his childhood photos chronicled for fans to peruse.
My personal favorite, though, is his mother. I won’t say anything bad about her, because she’s his mother and I’m sure she’s a nice lady.
On a completely unrelated note, has anyone ever seen The Hills Have Eyes?
In case you needed more proof that old people are having the best week ever, the eyewear upstarts at Illesteva have released the lookbook for their Summer 2010 collection and it is chock full o’ the elderly. The collection was inspired by the golden age of Havana in the 50′s, when the “Latin Las Vegas” brought in all types of high rollers for some living large in the Caribbean. Bypassing the complications of traveling to Cuba these days, the Illesteva crew instead ventured down to the famous Calle Ocho Boulevard in Miami and employed some of the domino-playing locals to model the frames. The sunglasses themselves are made from materials ranging from steel, to titanium, bamboo and acetate. And, if you’re willing to shell out $2,000, you can even get your hands on a pair of buffalo horn shades with photochromic lenses. And if you’re not? Guess you can wait until they make a collection inspired by Atlantic City.
See some more of the lookbook after the jump.
The last we heard from Sade, she was crying everyone’s tears in a video that was basically a more melancholy version of this video. That was way back in 2001, when she was still riding high of off the critical and commercial success of her last studio album Lovers Rock. Since then a lot of things have changed, chief among them the startling fact that pop stars no longer wear pants.

If Napoleon Dynamite dropped out of high school, discovered weed and got laid, his hair would probably look a lot like Erik Hassle’s unruly, asymmetrical mop. But, as we learned from Snooki, there’s more to a person than just their problem hair. In the case of Sweden-born, London-based singer-songwriter Hassle, that includes a soulful voice, some infectious pop songs and a personal style that leans toward the messy, tight and possibly unlaundered. In short, he looks how a rockstar should look.
Whether it’s his ever-present leather jacket, his 90′s-era cross earring or his somewhat incongruous tats, Hassle looks refreshingly unpolished, saving the sheen for his music instead. You can also see the influence of London in his Fred Perry polos buttoned to the top. Throw in the occasional cardy and denim jacket, and you’ll find yourself looking past the hair. Take a look at some more photos below.
